There are various technical solutions to ensure constant optimum humidity in rooms. They can be implemented individually or in combination with air-conditioning systems.

Spray humidifiers ("air washers")
They are often installed in air conditioners to condition the processed air. In the nozzle chamber of the air washer, water is sprayed into the chamber from a reservoir. The air flows through the chamber and is thus humidified. A large portion of the sprayed water is returned to the reservoir of the air washer by the following droplet separator. From there, the water is again pumped up and reused for air humidification. Caution: Due to the evaporation, the salt accumulates in the water if the system is not operated with fully demineralized water. High salt contents would cause deposits and corrosion on the equipment components.

Steam humidifiers 
They are suitable both for use in an air conditioning system and for air humidification directly in the room. Water is heated in an electric boiler until it boils. The water vapour is fed into the ventilation system or blown directly by a ventilation device into the room to be humidified. It should be noted that steam humidifiers have relatively high power consumption. At the same time, they are almost sterile.

Ultrasonic vaporizers
They work with high-frequency electronically induced ceramic oscillators, which cause the water surface to vibrate so that floatable aerosols are formed. They can be installed either in an airconditioning system or directly in the area to be humidified. The devices are characterized by low power consumption and an absolutely silent and drip-free mode of operation. However, the operating time of ultrasonic oscillators is limited (about 3000 hours). Evaporation humidifiers 
They use the principle of nature by drawing air over a large contact surface while absorbing moisture. The air moisture is transferred here without producing aerosols or drops in the form of cold steam at the lowest energy level possible. In the technical solution, the contact body consists of a cross-shaped honeycomb structure with a water-storing property. Nominal efficiency of up to 95 per cent is possible here, without oversaturation of the air. Evaporation humidifiers can also be operated with tap water and do not require any water treatment.

Hybrid humidifiers
It is a humidification system to be installed in air-conditioning systems, which combines the above-mentioned humidification techniques of spraying and evaporation. The hybrid humidifier is hygienically perfect. The moistening water is atomized by nozzles into small droplets and is subsequently collected by porous ceramic elements and then evaporated. This combination makes very good use of the humidification water and only little excess water is produced and then discharged directly through the drain. The system works only with demineralized fresh water, which is why there is no mineral build-up in the humidifier. The systemic silver ionization counteracts the formation of microorganisms in the wet zone of the humidifier. The water droplets are fully collected by the ceramic elements and cannot get into the air stream behind the humidifier
